Who knew there are benefits to watching cute kitty or doggo videos.

A study done by the University of Leeds, UK found that people who watch cute animal videos may very well contribute to a reduction in stress and anxiety.

Now, we always knew that we enjoy watching these cuties, but who knew it could help reduce stress?

The results were based on a study that examined people watching videos and images of cute animals for 30-minutes and found how the visuals affected its participants in terms of blood pressure, heart rate and anxiety.

The study was conducted in December last year, during a stressful period for medical students.

The recorded average blood pressure dropped from 136/88 to 115/71, which was "within ideal blood pressure range." Average heart rates were lowered to 67.4 bpm, a reduction of 6.5%.

The results also found that the participants enjoyed watching video clips more than looking at still images, especially those which showed animals interacting with humans.

Associate professor at the University of Leeds, Dr Andrea Utley said that when the participants left, they filled in a questionnaire and indicated that they were feeling less anxious."

So, the next time you feel stress after a long day, take a break and watch some cute animal videos!
