In case you were trying not to catch up on the news, Selangor, Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur and Sabah will be heading into Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) again.
While many are worried if the rules will be stricter this time, here’s an itemized list of things that you can and cannot do during the CMCO:
- Two members from the same household are permitted to go out for food supplies and other essential items.
- Children, seniors and high-risk individuals are not encouraged to go out, especially to open and crowded places.
- Interdistrict and interstate travels involving areas under CMCO are prohibited (except for those with medical emergencies and funeral managements - Applications need to be submitted to PDRM for approval).
- Employees are allowed to cross districts if they have a valid employment pass or a letter from their employer. However, the government encourages employers to allow their employees to work from home during the CMCO.
- If you need to cross Selangor or KL to go to other states; you’re advised to get permission from the nearest police station before the trip.
- If you’re travelling by air through KLIA, KLIA2 and Subang Airport, you will also need to get permission from the police.
- All businesses, economic and industrial activities are allowed to operate.
- If you wish to get food from restaurants, it’s encouraged that you opt for drive-thru, call for delivery, or take away. [Dining-in is still allowed with a limit of two people per table (four if the table is big and there is space for physical distancing), and has to be compliant with the SOPs.]
- All economic and industrial sectors are allowed to operate.
- Airports and Port services are allowed to operate.
- Tourism activities are not allowed - outside or inside the CMCO areas.
- All leisure, recreational, and cultural activities are not permitted - including cinemas, swimming pool activities, theme parks, etc.

- All educational institutions are closed during CMCO.
- Students sitting for exams with foreign educational institutions are only allowed to attend their examinations.
- Seminars and conferences are not allowed.
- Meetings are encouraged to be done via video conferencing
- Religious activities are still allowed, but more updates will be announced later.
- There is NO 10km radius rule during the CMCO in Selangor, KL and Putrajaya. You can move anywhere within the same district, subject to SOPs.
