Ika
Ika’s love for radio was accidental. Growing up, she spent more time listening to the radio than watching TV or movies, but never saw radio broadcasting as part of her future. Ika’s plan was to be a TV journalist, but while at University, the requirement to graduate with a Broadcasting Degree included radio courses. That ended up her hosting a 2-hour radio show, five times a week on KCWC-FM, which paid $4.50 an hour! Ika fell in love with radio but was still not convinced a future in radio broadcasting.
Ika did part-time TV as a news reader, and wrote articles for an English daily, but before long, the path took her back to radio. Ika was part of the Pioneer Astro team, helped set up “FM3” in 1996, which launched as Light & Easy in 1997 and has been a part of the Malaysian airwaves ever since.
Ika has hosted many shows from Breakfast to Afternoons to Nights and is currently back on LITE at 10am-3pm on the LITE Workday.
