Over 100 Drowning Deaths This Year

The Fire and Rescue Department has recorded 114 drowning deaths so far this year.

It told Sinar Harian that over half of these deaths involved children and teens.

Most of the deaths happened at rivers and irrigation canals, followed by beaches, then lakes, and waterfalls.

The department adds that the increase in drowning deaths is worrying, especially during the long holiday period.

As such, it's reminding the public to closely monitor family members during outings to prevent any similar incidents.
