Offenders To Compensate Victims Of Serious Road Accidents

 

The government has begun drafting amendments to the Road Transport Act that'll see offenders pay compensation to victims of serious road crashes.  

The Transport Ministry says the proposed mechanism will cover offences involving dangerous or reckless driving, including cases involving alcohol or drugs.

The court will consider several factors first before awarding compensation...such as the seriousness of the offence as well as the offender's ability to pay.

Separately, the government is stepping up efforts to tackle illegal racing.  

As such, police have been carrying out more aggressive and continuous enforcement operations, especially in several hot spot locations.  

In fact, cops have arrested over 170 people so far this year during nearly 80 operations.  

The Home Ministry adds that over 970 motorcycles were also seized during the first five months of the year.

The Prime Minister has warned schools not to conceal bullying incidents to protect their reputation.  

He explained that teachers carry a responsibility to ensure that educational institutions remain a place of learning with strong moral values and compassion for others.

It should also nurture individuals who understand human values and respect others.
