No Malaysians Affected In Venezuela Quake

All registered Malaysians in Venezuela are safe and accounted for following yesterday’s powerful twin earthquakes there.

The Foreign Ministry says it is closely monitoring the situation, with our nationals there urged to stay vigilant.

This, as the reported death toll in Venezuela rose past 200, with more than 4,000 others injured.

42 percent of Malaysians believe the country is moving in the right direction. 

This is according to a recent Merdeka Center survey with the figure rising slightly from mid-2025 levels. 

The survey also found that economic matters continue to dominate public sentiment…with more than half of respondents citing issues like the cost of living and fuel prices as their main concern.

The Public Accounts Committee has raised concerns over the billing practices and pricing at several private hospitals.

Among others it found that the billing systems lack transparency, with some hospitals imposing separate charges for basic items that are typically included in standard room fees.

The PAC also warns that this is contributing to rising medical inflation and higher insurance premiums.

The MACC will open five operations rooms across Johor, to receive public info and complaints related to corruption and abuse of power leading up to next month’s state election.

Operations will start from nomination day tomorrow.

And, Australia says it is considering tougher enforcement of its ban on Under-16’s using social media, although the government did not provide details.

This comes after a recent report found that the majority of Aussie kids were still using social media despite the ban by lying about their age or using someone else’s account.
