MOT To E-Hailing Companies: Expand Carpool Options

There could be more options for e-hailing users soon.

The Transport Ministry is stepping up efforts to reduce fuel costs amid the ongoing global energy crisis.

As such, it's urging e-hailing companies to implement more flexible policies and expand the carpool concept.

Minister Anthony Loke says the approach will allow passengers to share rides more efficiently at more affordable fares.

He adds that such initiatives can be carried out immediately, because several companies have already tested it out...

The war in the middle east will continue to impact the region’s energy production for an extended period, even if the conflict ends immediately.

The Prime Minister explained it's due to the damage caused to gas infrastructure there.

In fact, Datuk Sri Anwar Ibrahim says the Emir of Qatar is estimating full repairs to take up to five years.

Meanwhile, benchmark Brent crude oil prices have risen slightly following yesterday’s sharp drop following the ceasefire announcement between the US and Iran.

At last look, Brent was hovering at around 98 dollars a barrel...

However, this is nearly 40% higher compared to before the crisis.

In a related development... Malaysia has strongly condemned the continued military attacks by Israel against Lebanon.

The Foreign Ministry says such aggression puts the two-week ceasefire agreement reached between the US and Iran in jeopardy.

As such, the ministry is urging the international community, including the United Nations Security Council to hold Israel accountable for its violations of international law.
