DNA samples have been obtained from the next of kin of the 55 Malaysians still unaccounted for following the landslide and flooding in Nepal.
The Foreign Ministry says these samples will be sent over soon for DNA matching as part of the victim identification process.
Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Agency says the Malaysian SMART Team is already in Kathmandu and has obtained logistics clearance.
It is now awaiting a briefing from our embassy there, before coordinating with local emergency agencies to begin its humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operation.

At last look…Kuching and Sri Aman are the only areas in the country recording very unhealthy air quality levels.
A further 35 localities in Sarawak, Sabah, Selangor, KL, Putrajaya, Pahang, Negeri Sembilan, Johor, Melaka and Terengganu are currently recording unhealthy API readings.

The US Embassy in KL has denied claims that it had attempted to decide Malaysia’s political leadership, saying any account stating otherwise is false.
This, following recent allegations that America had previously offered assistance to topple the government here.
