Cops Raise Alarm Over 'Zombie Drug'

Police have raised the alarm over the sale of a highly-potent synthetic drug that is now openly available at some local vape outlets.

Bukit Aman says the so-called Zombie Drug is a derivative of fentanyl and is extremely dangerous, can cause severe addiction and poses a high risk of an overdose even in small quantities.

The discovery was made during a recent operation to crack down on violations by vape outlets nationwide.

A recent survey has found that illicit cigarettes now make up about 60 percent of Malaysia’s market.

This is generating about 5 billion ringgit annually for smuggling syndicates, while costing the government billions in unpaid taxes.

The government is focusing on policy adjustments to manage the cost pressures caused by the ongoing West Asia conflict. 

The Economy Ministry says this is on top of measures to ensure the uninterrupted supply of basic necessities.

In a related development, the US has announced an extension of its ceasefire with Iran to give more time for peace talks to be completed.

The truce had been set to expire later today.

The government is considering increasing incentives and allocations to host more concerts in the country, following the extension of Visit Malaysia Year until the end of 2027.
