Budget 2027 Highlights

The minimum wage will be increased from 1,700 to two thousand ringgit a month…starting June next year.

For the first time, the government will also introduce a 2,500 monthly minimum wage for semi-professionals and graduates.

The government will offer an EPF matching incentive of up to RM600 per year, to encourage retirement savings.

All citizens will also be automatically registered as EPF members when they turn 18, to get them started on their savings earlier.

Also… individual tax relief will be increased from 9 to 12 thousand ringgit…while individual income tax rates for resident taxpayers in the 70,000 to 150,000 chargeable income range will be reduced by one percentage point.

PTPTN borrowers earning 2,500 ringgit or less can now defer their loan repayments. 

Meanwhile, those who earn between 2,500 and 3,000 ringgit will only be required to make a minimum repayment of 50 ringgit a month.

In another perk for young Malaysians…the FlySiswa airfare assistance program will be increased to RM500… benefiting more than 60,000 students at public higher education institutions.

There was also a major announcement for civil servants…with 1,500 ringgit in financial payments to be given to 1.3 million government employees with grade B and below, including contract appointments.

20 billion ringgit in housing financing guarantees will be provided under the Housing Credit Guarantee Scheme…which will benefit some 80 thousand first-time homebuyers.

While the allocation for Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah and SARA assistance schemes will be increased to 16 billion ringgit next year, up from 15 billion in 2026.
