The bills to limit the PM’s tenure to ten years…and to separate the powers of the Attorney General and Public Prosecutor are ready for second reading.
De-facto Law Minister Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said says they can now be tabled in Parliament at any time, pending the decision by the PM.
Both bills will require the support of at least two-thirds of MP’s to be passed.

The Senior Citizens Bill, which was previously set to be tabled in Parliament next month, is now expected to only be brought to the Dewan Rakyat early next year.
The Women, Family and Community Development Ministry says more time is needed for engagement sessions with NGO’s, state governments and other stakeholders.
The new law aims to provide more comprehensive legal protection for senior citizens, particularly in addressing neglect, abuse and exploitation.

Separately, the Ministry says it’s ready to provide psychosocial support to the families of the Malaysians affected by the landslide and flooding in Nepal.
It adds that it’s currently awaiting updates from Wisma Putra before coordinating the assistance.

Meanwhile, the Defense Ministry says Nepal is currently only accepting aid in the form of goods.
It says there has been no request for rescue personnel so far, even though our SMART team and other military assets are on standby for deployment if Nepal changes its mind.

This, as Sarawak launched its three-day cloud seeding operation today, to try and ease the current haze and increase the water level at several key hydroelectric dams.
