Iran Confirms Ayatollah Khamenei's Death

Iran has confirmed the death of supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei following the US-Israeli military strikes against the country. 

According to state media, he was killed while "performing his official duties" and announced 40 days of public mourning. 

Iranian media had previously reported the deaths of his daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter.

The BBC says explosions continue to be heard in Iran, as American and Israeli forces continue their attacks.  

According to the Iranian Red Crescent, over 200 people have been killed so far.  

Meanwhile, an Iranian rights group says the civilian death toll stands at over 130.

Wisma Putra says so far, all Malaysians stranded in the Middle East are safe and accounted for.

It's actively monitoring the situation, and its Operations Room in Putrajaya is actively coordinating consular efforts.

It also urged Malaysians in the region to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information.

The Ministry also advised Malaysians to avoid non-essential travel to the Middle East and register with the E-Konsular portal for timely communication and assistance.

Also, the Consulate General in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia urged Malaysians there to stay updated on latest developments and seek assistance if needed.

Meanwhile, those in Bahrain have been told to stay indoors and seek shelter at the embassy if necessary.

This, as Malaysia Airports advised travelers to reconfirm the status of their flights before heading to the airport.  

MAHB also told passengers to expect possible delays, rerouting, or cancellations due to airspace restrictions in the region.

And 55 Malaysian Umrah pilgrims are reportedly stranded in the Saudi city of Jeddah.

Their flights were cancelled due to airspace restrictions in the region.
