Suspected Klang Drunk Driver Charged

A 28-year-old has been charged with murder at the Klang Magistrate’s Court, over the death of a motorcyclist in a high-profile suspected drunk-driving collision last weekend.

No plea was recorded, as murder cases fall under the jurisdiction of the High Court.

The suspect also pleaded guilty to a separate charge of consuming dangerous drugs.

The government continues to push for the social media ban on kids under 16 to be implemented by the middle of the year.

The Communications Ministry says that while the target date for implementation is June, the ban may even start earlier if everything is in place.

It adds that social media companies also need to be given sufficient time to take clean-up measures to ensure that no underaged kids remain on their platforms.

Both the government and members of the public are being urged to practice moderation, amid the uncertain global economic situation. 

His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim the King of Malaysia says the government, for one, needs to be prudent in its spending, to ensure the country’s resources are managed effectively and efficiently.

Meanwhile the Finance Ministry has the same advice for Malaysians…calling on the public to adopt a more moderate lifestyle.

Rapid KL says its service along the Kelana Jaya LRT line was disrupted this morning due to a tree branch that fell onto the tracks near Taman Paramount.

The operator says the issue has been resolved, but adds that passengers may experience longer wait times as its operations are being readjusted.

The Met Department says Baling, Sik, Padang Terap, Pokok Sena and Kota Setar in Kedah are the only areas nationwide still under a level one heat advisory.
