6 Things You Didn't Know Were Invented By Malaysians

6 things that you use everyday.
Malaysians are an innovative bunch too! Here are some of the things you use or see everyday, but didn't know they're invented by our fellow citizens:

#1 Newton egg maker

The detachable four-piece plasticware that cooks the perfect half-boiled eggs is made by a Malaysian! It all started when Datuk Hew Ah Kow was trying to make a perfect egg breakfast for him and his colleagues. He experimented with a drink mix can, which slowly evolved into the yellow plasticware we're familiar with today.

#2 Nehemiah Wall

See the hexagon-shaped stone bricks on elevated highways and on the hill sides? That's called a Nehemiah Wall, named after its inventor, Dr. Nehemiah Lee. It's a reinforced soil retaining wall system, which is widely used in Malaysia and other countries in the region.

#3 Flipper toothbrush holder

Goo Yock Tee is the person you should thank for creating a convenient place to put your toothbrushes. The flipper toothbrush holder is popular with adults and children, which comes in various types of designs. It also keeps your toothbrush clean: away from germs and dust, and well-ventilated.

#4 RO water dispenser

You see this almost everywhere: in campuses, outside a row of shops, near a parking lot. Ooi Seng Chye created this machine to make clean water available to more people at a cheap price. 10 sens will give you 500ml of water!

#5 Pen drive

You use this at work everyday! The USB pen drive was invented by Phua Khein Seng back in 2000, and now everyone in the world is using it.
