Ronaldo's hopes of becoming Europe's top scorer suffer a blow
Jul 30, 2020
Cristiano Ronaldo's hopes of finishing as Europe's top scorer have suffered a major blow after failing to score in Juventus' 2-0 Serie A defeat to Cagliari this morning.
The Portuguese has 31 goals in the Italian top-flight, four fewer than Lazio striker Ciro Immobile who scored in their 2-0 win over Brescia.
With the final round of matches in the Italian league still to come, Immobile is currently the continent's top scorer, with his tally of 35 putting him one ahead of Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski.
Another record for Zlatan
Meanwhile, Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored twice as AC Milan defeated Sampdoria 4-1 .
The Swedish striker is now the first player ever to score 50 or more career goals for both AC and Inter Milan.
Grealish may have to stay put
Jack Grealish may end up having to stay with Aston Villa despite attracting interest from several big Premiership clubs.
Arsenal are one of the interested parties, but their limited transfer budget means they cant afford Grealish's estimated 80 million pounds price tag.
Man United are another club keen on the Aston Villa captain, but are unlikely to make a move this summer, as they focus on trying to sign Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho.
A number of other clubs have also registered their interest in Grealish, but are not willing to go beyond 50 million pounds for the player.
