Japan halts Malaysia's excellent run at the Sudirman Cup

Japan are through to the final of the Sudirman Cup, after a 3-1 victory over Malaysia.

Our young shuttlers put on a brave display, but were unable to overcome the Japanese, who also beat us in the group stage.

Lee Zii Jia delivered Malaysia’s only point last night…with an impressive straight-sets victory over Kento Momota.

Chelsea have gone top of the EPL table after a 3-1 win over Southampton at Stamford Bridge.

It was the Blues first win after a run of two straight defeats in all competitions.

Elsewhere, Man United were held to a 1-1 draw by Everton.

Andros Townsend equalized for the Toffees after Anthony Martial had put United ahead in the first half.

In other EPL results, Brighton and Arsenal played out a goalless draw

Burnley and Norwich also drew 0-0

Wolves edged past Newcastle 2-1

While Leeds defeated Watford 1-0.

Luis Suarez scored against his former club, as Atletico Madrid recorded a 2-nil La Liga victory over Barcelona.

It moves Atletico joint top of the standings with Real Madrid although the defending champions have played a game more.

Barcelona, meanwhile, are ninth in the table having won just once in their last four league matches.
