The BWF has nominated Lee Zii Jia for this year’s Most Improved Player award.

The All England champion is joined by fellow Malaysian shuttlers Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik...who are also in the running for the prize.

Meanwhile, Tokyo Paralympics gold medalist Cheah Liek Hou is among the nominees for the Male Para Badminton Player of the Year award.
The winners will be announced early next month.

The Premier League will have a nearly six-week mid-season break to make way for the World Cup next year.

Next season's campaign will stop in mid-November, before resuming again just after Christmas.

The 2022 World Cup is being held in November and December, to avoid the scorching heat of the summer months.

Portugal endured a frustrating time in their World Cup qualifier this morning, after they were held to a goalless draw by the Republic of Ireland.

The Portuguese also ended the match with 10 men...after Pepe was sent off for two yellow card offences.

The result leaves Portugal level on points with Serbia at the top of their group, ahead of the two sides meeting in their final game on Monday.
