Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has denied he is holding Virgil van Dijk back from the Netherland’s Euro 2020 squad for selfish reasons.

The defender has been sidelined since October with a knee injury, but has been making progress on rehabilitation, raising hopes of a Euro 2020 appearance.

However, Klopp says the Netherlands captain is not match ready and should not be forced to play in next month’s European Championship.
