Villareal boss Unai Emery has confirmed he will stay at the club, after rejecting the offer to become Newcastle's new manager.

Emery was a favourite for the position, alongside former Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe.

Meanwhile, it's reported that ex Roma boss Paulo Fonseca is still keen to take on the job.

Reports say Fonseca held talks with Newcastle over two weeks ago.

Barca officials travel to Doha to discuss Xavi release

Barcelona officials have arrived in Doha to negotiate with Qatari club Al-Saad over the release of head coach Xavi.

The former Barca player has been heavily linked to replace Ronald Koeman as the Catalan giant's new boss.

However, Al-Saad say they are not willing to let their manager leave at this stage of the season.

MU’s Varane out for a month

Man United's Raphael Varane will be out of action for around a month after he suffered a hamstring injury during United's recent Champions League match against Atalanta.

Varane will now miss United's upcoming Premier League match at home to Man City.

The month-long absence will also see the defender out of United's next two matches after the international break - against Watford and Villareal.
