An international survey says 75% of Malaysians believe that social media should be temporarily banned in times of crisis, to stop the spread of fake news.

Only India ranked higher than Malaysia in support for such a ban.

Malaysia is also 3rd in the world, in terms of trusting the government to shut down social media platforms when need be.

This, after Sri Lanka's government temporarily blocked social media access in the immediate aftermath of the Easter terror attacks in April, while the Indian government took similar steps in Kashmir last month.
