Ministry confirms it banned water births at private hospitals

The Health Ministry confirms it has banned water births at private hospitals nationwide because there is no evidence it is beneficial for the mother.

It says althought the method had been praticed for several years with no untoward incidents, there are no guarantees it is safe for the mother and baby.

The Health Ministry was responding to a social media debate triggered by the discovery that water births were banned at a private hospital.
