Home Ministry to revise existing laws on domestic violence

The Home Ministry will revise existing laws on domestic violence.
It says, this is to allow tougher penalties on those convicted of such an offence.
The Ministry adds, the govt will also hold awareness programmes, and work with NGOs to reduce the number of domestic violence cases.
Authorities investigated 4,800 domestic violence cases in 2014, of which 1,400 were brought to court.
