Parents and teachers are urged to take note of student’s health conditions, before allowing them to take part in strenuous outdoor activities.

The Health Ministry says this is important to keep kids safe, especially during hot weather, adding that students should not be exposed to any activities beyond their capabilities.

This comes after a 14-year-old student collapsed and died while participating in a school cross-country event in Negeri Sembilan last week.

The Communications Ministry is warning of the latest tactic by scammers, to impersonate ministry officials.

Deputy Minister Teo Nie Ching says syndicates are now looking up official’s names, positions and telephone numbers on ministry’s websites…and then using this information to try and dupe unsuspecting victims.

Air quality in Sabah has not been affected by the eruption of the Mt Ruang volcano in Indonesia.

The state Health Department director says the air pollutant index reading remains under control…adding that there is no need at the moment to wear face masks outdoors.

Nine areas in Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, Perak and Sarawak are currently under a level-one heatwave alert…with expected daily temperatures of up to 37 degrees Celsius.

 

The federal government has granted an immediate allocation of 80 million ringgit to set up a national heart center in Sabah…which will be the second-largest heart treatment center in the country after IJN.
