PM: "Don't Politicize Ringgit's Decline"

All parties have been urged not to use the depreciating ringgit as a political tool.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim says some have been trying to turn the drop in the currency into a political issue without any factual basis.

He also noted that the government has already implemented several measures to strengthen the economy, that have resulted in Malaysia attracting the highest-ever level of foreign investments in our history.

In a related development, the recent decline of the ringgit will only have a minimum impact on the government’s purchase of medicine from overseas.

The Health Ministry says this is because most of the purchases were already locked-in in advance, to avoid being affected by fluctuating currencies.

Used car dealers will soon no longer need to go to the JPJ to perform a temporary transfer of ownership for the vehicles they buy.

The Transport Ministry says starting April, the transfer can be done online, once the e-STMS system is expanded and integrated with the JPJ’s MySikap system.

As many as 12 localities across four states are forecast to experience alert-level hot weather for the next two days.

The Met Department says the affected states are Kedah, Perlis, Perak and Sabah…where daily temperatures should reach between 37 to 37 degrees Celsius.

Passenger traffic at airports across the country saw double-digit growth over the past two months.

The Transport Ministry says this comes after the government introduced 30-day visa exemptions for visitors from China and India.
