Govt Looking Into 10-Year Passports

Feb 19, 2024

govt looking into 10-year passports

The validity of Malaysian passports could be extended to 10 years, compared to 5 years currently.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail says the Immigration Department is studying the proposal....

The 10-year passports have been proposed before.

Proponents say it would be more convenient for passport holders, as they won't have to be renewed so frequently.

It would also reduce the workload at passport offices.

--

The Health Ministry says it will welcome any feedback and recommendations on its proposal to place designated smoking areas outside restaurants located in cramped and crowded areas.

The proposal was made because of the difficulty in enforcing the 3-metre no-smoking rule in these areas.

Senator Datuk Mutang Tagal has been sworn as the new Dewan Negara president.

The Sarawakian replaces Tun Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, who was recently appointed Sarawak Governor.
