PM Backs Politicians' Pension Removal

pm backs politicians' pension removal

The PM has backed calls for new political appointees to no longer receive government pensions.  

According to Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, this is in line with the move to scrap pensions for new permanent civil servants...  

As for calls to end the pension payments for former elected reps, he says it is a constitutional issue and cannot be implemented immediately.

People should continue to remain vigilant against Covid-19, despite a downward trend in cases this month.  

The Health Minister says this is especially important, with Chinese New Year festivities just around the corner.  

As such, he reminded people to keep following the SOPs such as masking up when you show symptoms like coughing.

Speaking of Chinese New Year, Puspakom says it is offering free vehicle checks for motorists planning to return to their hometowns for the holiday.  

Free inspections are available from now until Feb 8th.

Authorities have confirmed that all 5 victims of this morning's landslide in Cameron Highlands are Myanmar nationals.  

So far, search teams have found the bodies of two of the victims, and efforts are ongoing to find the other three, including a woman.

The Yang Dipertuan Agong has appointed Tun Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar as the 8th Sarawak Governor, replacing Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud.
