Sarawak is set to enforce tighter travel restrictions after it discovered that over 500 COVID-19 cases in the state this year were due to inter-zone movements.

State authorities say as such, starting Monday, inter-zone travel will only be allowed for those in essential services and during emergency situations.

Sarawak recorded 960 cases, the highest number of the country's daily infections tally yesterday.

Those who’ve been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, can still be infected by the coronavirus, but with less severe symptoms.

The National Union of the Teaching Profession says similar steps should also be taken for schools in Kelantan after several areas there were placed under a Movement Control Order.
