Health DG: Msia to continue the use of AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine

health dg: msia to continue the use of astrazeneca covid-19 vaccine

Malaysia will continue to use the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine as the benefits outweigh the reported adverse effects.

The Health Ministry reiterated this following cases of blood clots and deaths in the UK.

It also explained that some countries decided to put it on hold to look into the link between blood clots and its side effects.

Meanwhile, the government has drawn up several backup plans in the event the AstraZeneca vaccine has to be put on hold.

Minister in-charge of the vaccination Khairy Jamaluddin says they received an offer from Pfizer-BioNTech to add another 12.8 million doses, in addition to what we have
ordered, which is about 30 million doses.
