govt looking into proposal to allow interstate travel for vaccine recipients

A detailed study is being conducted into the possibility of allowing interstate travel for those who've been fully vaccinated against the coronavirus.

The Health Ministry says it is now looking into the relevant technical and clinical data.

This comes after PM Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin proposed that those who've received two doses of the vaccine be allowed to cross state borders.

The government will continue with plans to use the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine, despite reports of some recipients in the UK suffering from adverse side effects.

Minister-in-charge of the National Immunisation Program Khairy Jamaluddin says the decision on whether to proceed with the vaccine is based on clinical data and not news reports.

Because of this, he says the government will obtain the latest data from AstraZeneca for further confirmation.
