No need for vaccine awareness programs in schools

Mar 19, 2021

no need for vaccine awareness programs in schools

The government has no plans to hold vaccine advocacy programs in schools.

The Deputy Education Minister says it's because the COVID-19 vaccine is only offered to those aged 18 and above.

He says the government will instead conduct nationwide roadshows to raise public awareness on being immunised against the coronavirus.

Currently, close to 6 million people have already signed up to receive the vaccine under the National Immunisation Program.

44,000 students have now returned to their university campuses, while another 5,000 are staying off-campus.

The Higher Education Ministry says this is out of 1.3 million uni students nationwide.

It adds that it is satisfied with how university management and students are following SOPs to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
