It may not be the time to travel, but don’t let it stop you from planning a trip.

Research from the University of Cornwall, UK found that people who plan trips experience better feelings about the social situation, economic means, their state of health and life in general.

It may not be possible, or a good idea to travel this year, but don’t let it stop you from planning your next vacation as it could very well give you a significant mental boost during these trying times!

The research found that the delayed gratitude, especially if it relates to travelling, was more pleasurable than both immediate consumption and delayed consumption of products and services.

The researcher from the University of Cornwall, Matthew Killingsworth stated that a person’s future-mindedness can be a “source of joy if we know good things are coming”, including looking forward to your next holiday.

Killingsworth added that by planning a trip it often allows us to know just enough about what to expect based on our imagination which can be pleasurable, and if we start to think of a trip we will likely consume it.

For example, if we imagine ourselves eating gelato in Rome, we are experiencing a version of those events in our mind.
