The Friends TV series first aired 27 years ago and ended 17 years ago… yet it’s still one of the most loved shows today by all age groups.

Perhaps it was the storyline that shared heart-warming moments, or the timeless lessons learned, or maybe we were just so moved by the bonds and relationship the characters shared.

Not surprisingly, all those years spent filming together have also made them good friends in real life—a revelation that was shared in the highly anticipated Friends: The Reunion.

That wasn’t the only thing they opened up about during the reunion special though. A few juicy secrets were revealed too!

#1 David Scwhimmer and Jennifer Anniston had a crush on each other!

Playing on-screen romantic partners incited some personal feelings as well. After all the ogling, hugging and kissing as Ross and Rachel, who wouldn’t feel some sort of magical pull towards one another.

Unfortunately, their romance was kept strictly for TV only as they were never single at the same time. When one was single, the other would be partnered.

Eventually, as the seasons gone by, their feelings became platonic. Now that they’re both single though, who knows what might happen next.

#2 The cast didn’t even watch (most of) the show

Some of them admitted to having only watched a few episodes here and there while others shared that they skipped out on entire seasons!

As a fan, you’ve probably watched all 10 seasons at least once but for the cast themselves to have not seen their own work is quite mind-blowing.

Lisa Kudrow and Matt Le Blanc also found their own acting cringey and even weird though they enjoyed their friends’ performances.

#3 Janice’s laugh came quite naturally…?

Maggie Wheeler who played Janice, Chandler’s on-again, off-again girlfriend, shared that Matthew Perry was absolutely hilarious every time he spoke.

She said, “He opened his mouth I thought, 'Oh God, I’m gonna lose it, I’m gonna crack up’”, and so she created the signature nasal laugh on the spot to ‘naturally’ laugh Chandler’s jokes off.

#4 Joey’s ‘twin’ almost got the role instead of Matt Le Blanc!

Remember that episode where Joey had a twin? Turns out, actor Louis Mandylor initially auditioned for the role of Joey Tribbiani but ultimately lost it to Matt.

Funnily enough, Louis was invited for an episode where he played Joey’s twin, Carl. In the episode, Joey hired Carl to pretend to be his twin so he could join a high-paying twins research project.

Could you have imagined anyone else portraying Joey?

#5 Monica and Chandler were supposed to be a one-time thing

The night they had their first steamy, passionate encounter in London was originally written off as a small fling. David Crane and Marth Kauffman intended it to be much like the ‘What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas’ saying.

However, when the audience gave such a positive and enthusiastic response to Monica and Chandler’s affair, the writers decided to make the relationship permanent.

Watch Friends: The Reunion for more secrets!

We won’t spoil it any further for you. You should watch the reunion for more jaw-dropping reveals, heart-warming moments and just to witness how far along they’ve come since ending Friends.

You’ll want to watch this with a box of tissues because it’ll make you smile, laugh and even cry.

It’s available to stream on demand for all Astro Movie Pack subscribers via Ultra Box, Astro GO or HBO GO.
